(Wallingford)– An electrical problem with an aquarium has been sited as the cause of a minor house fire early this (Tuesday) morning in Wallingford.
Wallingford firefighters were called to a residence at 76 Highway Four South around 5:20 a.m. on a report of smoke in a house.
Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer says an occupant in the house who had been sleeping downstairs was awakened to find her t.v. had shut off. She then discovered the smoke and called 911.
Upon arriving Fischer says firefighters ventilated the house and found some fire damage to some wall paneling near an electrical outlet that an aquarium was plugged into on the front porch.
Damage was estimated at roughly 1,500-dollars.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.
