(Armstrong)– The former operator of Armstrong’s water and wastewater treatment facilities has had his certification revoked by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
According to the DNR, Adam Anderson admitted to falsifying data in a legal consent order, and agreed to surrender his certification for water treatment and distribution and to not reapply for water or wastewater certification in Iowa. The DNR says Anderson wasn’t certified for wastewater treatment.
The action stems from a citizen’s complaint that the city of Armstrong wasn’t chlorinating its water system. A DNR investigation confirmed the claim and found that Anderson, who no longer works for the city, had filed false reports.
Julie Sievers, a DNR Environmental Specialist based out of Storm Lake, says the city of Armstrong has since hired a certified operator and that the city’s water IS safe to drink.
