DNR REAP Assembly For Region 3 Set For October 21st In Spencer

October 11, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Regional REAP, or Resource, Enhancement and Protection assemblies are being held this month around the state of Iowa.

The assemblies are required under Iowa law to inform the public of the amount of money available for the program each year and to outline projects that have been completed with funding through REAP, as well as to hear ideas for future projects. They typically involve things such as trails, river corridor protection, wetland restoration, soil erosion prevention, conservation education and resource inventories. Those attending the assemblies also review and recommend any changes to REAP policies, programs and funding. They also elect five people to serve on the statewide REAP Congress, with two more that are selected as delegates.

The assembly for region 3, which includes Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto and Sioux counties will be held at 6:30 pm Thursday, October 21st at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer.

REAP assemblies are held on odd numbered years.
