Dickinson Supervisors Meet Around Kitchen Table

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– There’s an old saying that goes “if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen”. Fortunately for the Dickinson county board of supervisors, the kitchen at the Dickinson county community building Tuesday was cool. The supervisors have been meeting in the board room at the community building since the courthouse project started a couple years ago. But that room was being used Tuesday for voting. And with other areas of the facility tied up, including the Expo, it forced the supervisors to meet in the community building’s kitchen.

Supervisors awarded a couple of bids at that meeting. One, for 326,734-dollars, was awarded to Midwest Contracting of Marshall, Minnesota to replace a bridge on County Road A-43.

Another, in the amount of 8,496-dollars from R-E-W Services of Ankeny, is to remove asbestos from two storage rooms and a tunnel at the Oak Haven Care Facility.

Also Tuesday, the supervisors continued a public hearing on a proposal to vacate a road in the Monarch Cove area to 10:00 a.m. January 15th; set 10-dollars as the fee for passport photos through the Treasurer’s Office; and they signed off on a letter encouraging the Department of Natural Resources to adopt a five mile-per-hour speed limit along shorelines.
