(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday voted four-to-one to move a culvert project on sixth street near Milford into the county’s current construction cycle. Meanwhile, there’s still been no decision as to what will be bumped out to make room for it.
The project is part of the county’s plan to increase capacity at the Lower Gar outlet. It includes the installation of one additional culvert just east of the Milford city limits at an estimated cost of 170-thousand dollars…up from an earlier estimate of 120-thousand.
The supervisors indicated Tuesday they would be in favor of putting in a larger “conspan” structure should the city of Milford prefer it instead, and if they’d be willing to help with some of the cost. That option has an estimated cost of 350-thousand dollars.
Supervisor Chairman David Gottsche cast the lone dissenting vote.
County Engineer Dan Eckert said construction would likely be done over the winter months.
