(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson county board of supervisors Tuesday approved plans to extend a recreational trail and a road through a development on the east side of Big Spirit Lake on land owned by Jerry Jones.
The project, to be built on easements provided by Jones, will be funded by a tax increment finance district that’s in place in that area.
Steve Litts of the Dickinson County Trails Association told the supervisors the two-mile project would go a long way toward getting the trail system extended all the way around Big Spirit Lake.
The road will extend 250th Avenue eastward where it will meet DNR land, replacing an existing gravel road. The proposed recreational trail will run from the north end of the Poyzer Trail, connecting with the proposed Yarnes Wildlife Management Area Trail.
The project will also include some drainage work.
