Dickinson County Supers To Let Project To Repair Frost Heaves

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Some help is on the way for gravel roads in various parts of Dickinson county badly damaged by last winter’s extreme cold.

Frost, driven abnormally deep, caused the roads to heave in some areas.

Dickinson County Engineer Dan Eckert told the board of supervisors Tuesday county road foremen have identified 28 different areas that have severe damage. He says nine have been addressed. Eckert requested permission from the supervisors to let a contract to repair the others at an estimated cost of 100-thousand dollars.

Saying it’s a matter of public safety, the supervisors directed Eckert to proceed, even though the work hasn’t been budgeted.
