(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission voted Monday to recommend the rezoning of two different parcels of land in the Francis Sites area that would allow for the construction of additional boat storage facilities in that area.
Butch Parks of Parks Marina made the request.
It involves a lot he owns in the Tusculum Beach area and three lots owned by Hawn Brothers, Incorporated. The P & Z is recommending they be rezoned from suburban residential to highway commercial.
Previous plans by Parks to build additional boat storage facilities in that area drew opposition from neighbors concerned over safety and traffic on Francis Sites Drive and 28th Street. Parks told commissioners this proposal would resolve that, by making it possible for him to use a road through the Hawn Brothers subdivision instead.
The board of supervisors will take up the P & Z’s recommendations to rezone those areas sometime in the next two to three weeks.
In other action, the Dickinson County Planning and Zoning Commission also Monday voted unanimously to recommend some land in Montgomery be rezoned from agricultural to general commercial to allow for the construction of a restaurant/bar.
