Dickinson Co. Character Counts Starts Next Project

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– They’re fresh off one project and about to embark on another.

Kim Wermersen, President of Dickinson County Character Counts, says they recently wrapped up their Kids Against Hunger Project. He says they prepared more than 200-thousand meals that will be sent throughout the world. He says more than two thousand volunteers from throughout the county participated.

Now, Wermersen says they’ll be starting their next project, titled “30 Days to an Even More Beautiful Dickinson County”.

Wermersen says volunteers will be busy cleaning up parks, ball fields, beaches and other public areas throughout the county. He says the main highlight of the initiative will be an event this Saturday they’ll be putting on with ArtsLIVE at the Arnolds Park Amusement Park. Volunteers are asked to gather at the park at 8:00 a.m. to assist with cleaning up the park. A lunch will be provided.

Wermersen added Character Counts is looking to increase its membership. They are 10-dollars for individuals; 25-dollars for a family and 35-dollars for a business. He says they have over 300 members currently with about 12 corporate sponsors.
