Deputy Escapes Injury After Squad Car Hits Deer

(Sibley)– An Osceola county sheriff’s deputy escaped injury Tuesday evening when the squad car he was driving collided with a deer and went into the ditch.

The Iowa State Patrol says 29-year-old Chad Julius of Sibley was enroute to assist another deputy when the collision took place about a hlaf mile east of the intersection of county roads L-58 and A-34.

The 2003 Ford Crown Victoria squad car sustained an estimated three thousand dollars in damage.

The mishap took place shortly after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
