(Spirit Lake)– Another Dickinson county law enforcement agency has signed on with the A Child Is Missing alert program.
Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun says his office has formalized an agreement with the program that utilizes high tech methods to search for missing children, elderly and those who may be physically challenged or disabled.
The program utilizes a call center that’s operated 24 hours a day, seven days a week. An information and mapping system is used, along with thousands of calls the system makes within minutes to notify various agencies. It includes a description, last known whereabouts and other pertinent information.
The program is a free service to law enforcement agencies.
A Child is Missing is a nationwide non-profit organization. To date they’ve been credited with more than 325 safe assisted recoveries.
The Spirit Lake Police Department signed on to the service earlier this year.
