Dave Rowley Officially Announces His Candidacy For Iowa Senate District 5 In Nov., 2022 Election

January 03, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Senator-Elect Dave Rowley announced today (Monday) his candidacy for the new Iowa Senate District 5 in the November, 2022 election. Rowley, who’s from Spirit Lake, was elected in a special election for Senate District 1 on December 14th following the resignation of Zach Whiting and will be taking his oath of office January 10th. Rowley says it was his plan all along to run for a full term in what will be the new Senate District 5…

“The nice thing about this campaign is that I’ll have a session under my belt. I’ll have had experience with committees of which I do not know yet, but I will have had that experience through this session and that will allow me a great opportunity to serve the new counties in district 5.”

In addition to Dickinson, Iowa Senate District 5 will also include Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Winnebago counties, along with northern Clay county. Rowley says he’s already somewhat familiar with the counties further east…

“Well I know a few folks over in Kossuth and also Winnebago. I haven’t been to too much, but through my background in insurance I have visited some agencies over the years there and I hope to renew those old friendships and start networking as soon as possible.”

For this upcoming Legislative session, Rowley says his emphasis will remain on the current Senate District 1…

“Nothing will change on that as far as Lyon county, Osceola, Dickinson, Clay and also Palo Alto. I’ll be representing them. And the people I’ve talked to, people have certain issues that they’d like represented, I will be there for them this session for sure.”

Rowley, an insurance agent, has lived in Spirit Lake for over 25 years. He is a former Dickinson County GOP chair and serves as president of the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa. He and his wife Kris have four grown children.
