Dave Rowley Elected To Senate District 1 Seat

(Spirit Lake)– Dave Rowley of Spirit Lake has been elected to fill the vacant Iowa Senate District 1 seat. Unofficial results show Rowley, the Republican candidate, receiving 2,690 votes while Mark Lemke of Spirit Lake, who ran as a Democrat, received 864 votes.

Rowley will fill the remaining one year left in the term of Zach Whiting, who has resigned and moved to Texas.

Information from the Secretary of State’s Office shows 3,559 ballots were cast in Tuesday’s special election.

Iowa Senate District 1 includes portions of Clay, Dickinson, Lyon, Osceola and Palo Alto counties.
