Crash Near Fostoria Sends One Person To Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Fostoria)– The Iowa State Patrol has released details into a crash earlier this week near Fostoria that sent one person to the hospital.

Troopers say 41-year-old Mary Smith of Fostoria was crossing over the median at the intersection of Highway 71 and Clay County Road B-14 when she collided with a vehicle driven by 51-year-old Joan Brown of Spirit Lake.

Brown was taken by ambulance to Spencer hospital for treatment of injuries. Possible injuries were reported to Smith, but she wasn’t immediately taken to a hospital.

Smith was cited for failure to yield.

A 2000 Chrysler driven by Smith was totaled; a 1997 Ford Escape driven by Brown sustained an estimated five thousand dollars in damage.

The crash took place shortly before 8:00 a.m. Monday.
