(Lake Park)– A two-vehicle collision Sunday on Highway nine three miles east of Lake Park resulted in multiple injuries.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says it involved a 1992 Chevrolet Astro van driven by 38-year-old Roy Myers of Estherville who was westbound on Highway nine and a 1995 Dodge Ram truck driven by 36-year-old Darin Radcliffe of Spirit Lake. Authorities say Radcliffe had stopped behind another vehicle that was attempting to turn south onto 160th Avenue. Authorities say Myers failed to stop in time and collided with the rear of the vehicle driven by Radcliffe.
Radcliffe and a three-year-old passenger in his vehicle weren’t injured.
Myers and six passengers in his vehicle were taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. Myers was treated for numerous abrasions; 30-year-old Becky Klein of Estherville sustained serious injuries and was transferred by helicopter to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Two children in Myers’ van received minor injuries, while three others were uninjured.
Authorities say the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lake Park and Spirit Lake Police Departments; Lake Park, Spirit Lake and Terril ambulances and the Lake Park Fire Department.
The mishap took place shortly before 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
