(Spirit Lake)– A court order says a Spirit Lake woman must make nearly 402-thousand dollars in restitution to the former Before And After School Services, or BASS program she ran.
Margaret “Meg” Waltz entered an Alford Plea of guilty to theft in the first degree back in June of 2007 for allegedly misappropriating funds from the former organization.
She was charged in 2005 after a state audit turned up questionable expenditures.
The restitution order was filed last Thursday in Dickinson County District Court.
A sentencing date hasn’t been set.
The order gives the following break down of funds to be re-paid:
Extra salary: $155,627.38
Purchase of 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche: $30,000.00
Payments on personal credit cards: $78,313.47
Vacations: $19,400
Payments to family members: $56,026.40
Other personal purchases: $7,782.73
Bank fees & finance charges: $5,080.00
Receipts deposited into personal account: $7,480.38
Cost of audit: $42,033.39
For total restitution of: $401,743.37
