Court Appointed Special Advocate Program Expands To Several Area Counties

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– A unique program that ensures courts are acting in the best interests of children will expand this fall to include Emmet, Palo Alto and Kossuth counties.

The Court Appointed Special Advocate Program trains volunteers to advocate on behalf of abused and neglected children in the court system to make sure their best interests are represented.

The state legislature last session appropriated 411-thousand dollars to bring the program to every Iowa county.

The program was operational in only 68 counties last year.

It’s overseen by the Iowa Child Advocacy Board.
