(Spencer)– The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is offering a special incentive to those who encourage family members and friends who don’t already live in the area to move here.
Kathy Evert, President of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, says it’s part of their grass roots efforts to build on last summer’s “Why Go Back?” marketing and advertising campaign.
The initiative, known as the “Live, Work, Play Here Relay” encourages those who already live in the region to complete a pledge form listing three people or families they would like to have located here, and indicate if they will contact the individuals or if they would like Corridor staff to contact them. Pledge forms can be completed on-line or downloaded from www.liveworkplayhere.org
Residents who complete a form will be entered in a monthly drawing for 100-dollars in cash or prizes.
Evert says the need to recruit more families to the area is very real. She sites the fact that none of the school districts in the Corridor’s four-county service area posted increases in enrollment this past fall, and that populations in the region are stagnant or declining.
Evert says the goal is to attract 400 new families to Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties by 2009.
