Corridor Launches “TARGET Iowa Lakes Corridor” Effort

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– The Iowa Great Lakes Corridor Development Corporation Thursday announced an aggressive two and-a-half million dollar fundraising campaign aimed at funding a new four-year plan for the development group that includes Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties.

Iowa Lakes Corridor Development President Kathy Evert tells KUOO news the effort has been dubbed “TARGET Iowa Lakes Corridor”.

Evert says as of Thursday the campaign had already received more than 1.5 million dollars in pledges. She says the campaign to raise the remaining one million will continue through early June.

Evert says the money will be used to fund some significant new initiatives and marketing efforts, that in the past were supported by one-time grants.

Evert says the TARGET Lakes Corridor’s goals include making the Corridor the most entrepreneurial region in the state; adding 600 new primary, higher-wage jobs to the region through existing business and industry expansion, news business and industry locations, and new business start-ups; attracting more people and workers to the region; and building and maintaining partnerships and relationships to ensure the success and completion of the business plan.

Measurable goals of the four-year plan include creating 600 new primary jobs; generating 40 new start-up companies; conducting 200 existing business and industry visits each year and participating in 16 recruiting trips and/or trade shows.
