Contractor Calls For Licensure Checks

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday was asked to consider a new system of checks and balances for construction crews doing work in the city.

Bill Huse, a general contractor who lives in Milford, told the council contractors who are not registered with the state and some who are either uninsured or under-insured are doing work in the community. He says it isn’t fair to those who are, and poses safety concerns for homeowners.

Huse said the city should require contractors have the proper insurance and be registered with the state.

Mayor Virg Wahlman told Huse it’s something the council has talked about in the past and that they’ll consider it again.
