(Spirit Lake)– Congressman Randy Feenstra this (Tues.) afternoon visited the Polaris Industries’ Indian Motorcycle plant in Spirit Lake. The congressman toured the facility and met with plant management. He says they talked about a number of issues, primarily those dealing with the workforce shortage and the supply chain…
“The big issue right now is chips. We heard that today. Intel is building a huge plant in Ohio, it’s going to be about 25,000 to 30,000 people. We have to do more of that so we have more of the product here instead of the concern about having it come in from other places in the world that are locked down or are having issues going on. That’s the number one issue, is trying to incentivize that from happening. And then number two is also working with that supply chain, opening up the ports, more hours, making sure that we’re getting ships unloaded and onto trucks, onto rail. And the also making sure that we have employees. And how do we do that? There’s, it’s called the H21-A and H21-B program that we can take in employees, making sure that, you know, they can come here and work and they can be sponsored by employers. So these are some of the things that we’re working with at the congressional level.”
Feenstra says he was very impressed with what he saw touring his tour of the Spirit Lake Indian Motorcycle plant.
