Collision Of Two Motorcycles Seriously Injures Milford Man

(Spirit Lake)– A Milford man was seriously injured Saturday night in a collision in Spirit Lake involving two motorcycles.

Spirit Lake police say 48-year-old Daryl Manthe of DeForest, Wisconsin was driving a motorcycle northbound on Highway 71 and was attempting to turn right onto 22nd Street when he was rear-ended by another motorcycle driven by 44-year-old Gregory Williams of Milford who was also northbound.

Williams was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare and was life-flighted to another hospital with serious injuries.

Police say Williams was not wearing a helmet.

No other injuries were reported.

Two thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2008 Victory motorcycle driven by Manthe; a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Williams sustained an estimated one thousand dollars in damage.

The collision, which remains under investigation, took place shortly before 10:00 p.m. Saturday.

Spirit Lake police were assisted on the scene by the Okoboji Police Department, Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance, Spirit Lake First Responders and the Iowa State Patrol.
