(Spirit Lake)– A close call early this (Thursday) morning for a Spirit Lake business.
Spirit Lake firefighters were called to Goodies on Highway 71 south shortly after midnight.
Upon arriving Fire Chief David Kollasch says flames could be seen through a window on the south side of the building.
Kollasch says a cook stove had been accidentally left on, catching some nearby papers on fire.
Kollasch says firefighters were able to contain the fire to the stove and quickly put it out.
Kollasch says firefighters then ventilated the building of smoke.
He says only a very minimal amount of water was used, and there was very little damage.
The fire was discovered by a neighboring business that called 911.
Spirit Lake firefighters were on the scene about an hour.
