Clay County Fair Announces 2022 Grandstand Line-Up

(Spencer)– The grandstand line-up has been announced for the 2022 Clay County Fair powered by SMU. Fair CEO and General Manager Jeremy Parsons tells KUOO news they’ve made a change this year by announcing the entire line-up at once…
“We just want to give people time to plan and also maybe a little bit of excitement in these cold, drury days after Winter Games.”
Parsons tells us what all goes into the process of selecting the performers…
“There are so many different types of music we can’t do them all every year, but maybe we can do them, you know, every couple of years. And so it’s really about, you know, looking at the demographics of our audiences, looking at artists or genres of music that maybe we haven’t brought here before. That’s kind of the case this year with one of our shows, Vanilla Ice and the Ying Yang Twins. You know, hip hop, rap, pop, very rarely has been at the fair if ever, so we’re excited to bring a show like that to everyone. And then it also just looks at what acts are available whether budget wise or just in their routing Obviously if they’re touring in Europe they can’t get to the Clay County Fair in September.”
Parsons says they’re especially excited in that this year’s line-up includes some multi-Grammy winners…
“Obviously that’s kind of the highest honor in music. Dwight Yoakam of course is with us. Dwight Yoakam has won multiple Grammys, a top country artist for a long time. And then kind of on the other end of the spectrum we have CeCe Winans with us who is the most awarded female gospel artist of all time winning 12 Grammys and of course she had a ton of crossover hits with Whitney Houston. And so, you know, just some really top artists in their fields, you know, with Dwight Yoakam and CeCe Winans. And then you look at a night with Grand Funk Railroad and Blue Oyster Cult, you know, two of the top selling groups of the 1970’s are with us as well. So again we think this year hopefully there will be a show for everybody to enjoy.”
Parsons says tickets will be going on sale in coming weeks.
