Clay County Crash Sends Four To Hospital; Charges Filed Against Driver

(Spencer)– A single-vehicle crash in Clay county Friday sent two people to the hospital and resulted in charges against the driver.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 29-year-old Saul Malagon-Pena of Spencer was driving a 1996 Olds Bravada on 390th Street when he lost control on the gravel road. The vehicle went into the south ditch and rolled twice before coming to rest upright facing north in the south ditch.

Malagon-Pena was taken to Spencer Hospital where he was treated and released.

A passenger, Juan Ramirez-Lopez, suffered head and arm injuries. He was taken to Spencer Hospital and was transferred by air to another facility.

The vehicle Malagon-Pena was driving was totaled.

Malagon-Pena was charged with no driver’s license, no insurance, failure to maintain control and failure to report a personal injury accident.

The crash took place around 6:30 a.m. Friday.
