(Spencer)– A single-vehicle crash Wednesday near Royal sent a Sutherland woman to the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 60-year-old Carol Lowe of Sutherland was driving a 1996 Buick northbound on 190th Avenue when she drifted onto the right shoulder. Authorities say Lowe over-corrected, causing her to lose control.
The vehicle went into the west ditch, striking a utility pole. It then rolled several times, coming to rest on its top.
Lowe was taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital and was transferred by air to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City with internal injuries.
4,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the vehicle.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol, Royal Rescue and Spencer Fire Department.
The mishap took place shortly after 12:30 p.m.
