Clay County Collision Sends One Person To The Hospital

(Spencer)– A two-vehicle collision Saturday at the intersection of 365th Street and County Road M-38 in Clay county sent one person to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 50-year-old William Whittenburg of rural Everly was southbound on County Road M-38 when he collided with the rear of a vehicle driven by 57-year-old Robert Johnson of rural Everly who was backing onto the road from a farm drive.

Johnson was taken to Spencer hospital for treatment of minor cuts and bruises. No injuries were reported to Whittenburg.

4,500-dollars in damage was estimated to a 2002 Ford F-150 driven by Whittenburg; a 1995 Buick LeSabre driven by Johnson was totaled.

The mishap took place shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Everly Fire and Rescue and the Iowa State Patrol.
