Clay Co. Rollover Results In Minor Injuries, OWI Charge

(Spencer)– A single-vehicle crash early Saturday in Clay county resulted in minor injuries and a drunk driving charge against a Mallard man.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 21-year-old Ryan Sobkoweak was westbound on 350th Street at 260th Avenue when he went straight off a curve. Deputies say Sobkoweak was reaching for his cell phone at the time.

The vehicle left the road where it struck a driveway and culvert, causing it to go airborn. The vehicle landed on its front and rolled 360 degrees.

Sobkoweak sustained minor injuries.

He was charged with operating while intoxicated…first offense…and was booked into the Clay county jail.

The crash took place around 12:15 a.m. Saturday.

A 1991 Ford Escort Sobkoweak was driving was totaled.
