(Spencer)– A motorcycle crash Sunday night on Highway 71 in Clay county claimed the life of a Red Oak man.
The Sheriff’s Office says 58-year-old George McMillin of Red Oak lost control of a 2005 Harley Davidson as he was traveling northbound. Authorities say the bike left the road, ejecting McMillin onto the highway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Minor damage was reported to the motorcycle.
Authorities learned of the mishap shortly after 11:00 p.m. after getting a 911 call from a passing motorist reporting a male subject lying in the highway.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Spencer Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Royal and Peterson Fire and Rescue Units.
