Clay Co. Head-On Crash Injures Two People

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– A head-on crash Tuesday on Highway 71 near 390th Street in southern Clay county sent two people to the hospital.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 18-year-old Justin Keith of Rembrandt was driving a 2001 Ford Escort southbound on Highway 71 when the vehicle drifted onto the right shoulder, causing Keith to lose control. The vehicle came back onto the roadway and entered the northbound lane where it was struck head-on by a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup driven by 18-year-old Justin Victory of Linn Grove.

Keith and Victory were taken by ambulance to Spencer Hospital with lower back injuries and cuts to their arms and faces.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Both vehicles were totaled.

Authorities say the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.

It took place shortly before 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.
