City Of Estherville Has A New Fire Chief

December 21, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Estherville)– A new Fire Chief will be in place in Estherville effective the 1st of the year. Members of the department recently voted to approve Travis Sheridan as Chief, replacing Dick Beaver who is retiring. The City Council Monday evening also granted approval to Sheridan becoming Chief.

Sheridan also serves as Emmet County Emergency Services Coordinator. He told the council it’s becoming more common for EMC’s to serve in a dual capacity, since Emergency Management also responds to most fire calls.

The council also approved a restructuring of officers in the Estherville Fire Department, which will add an additional captain to the roster. Sheridan told the council it will help divide up some responsibilities among officers.

A plaque recognizing Beaver for his years of service as Fire Chief was also presented during Monday’s evening. Beaver has been Fire Chief in Estherville since 2005. He’s been with the department for a total of about 38 years.
