(Fairmont, Mn.)– A chiropractor has been charged with burglary and assault for allegedly breaking into a farmhouse near Truman, Minnesota and assaulting an elderly couple.
The criminal complaint alleges 30-year-old Douglas Eugene Bennett entered the home of Elmer and Marcella Sauck June 10th, assaulted them and wasn’t stopped until the couple’s adult son shot him in the leg.
84-year-old Marcella Sauck suffered a broken arm and severe facial injuries. She was upgraded to fair condition at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. 89-year-old Elmer Sauck suffered a broken nose and buising and swelling to his face.
According to the complaint, Bennett claimed to police he was God and the deputies were “satan’s minions”, and that he would haunt their souls for all eternity.
None of the Sauck family knew Bennett before the attack. He recently relocated from Colorado to the Truman area.
