Charges Filed In Spencer Fight

(Spencer)– Spencer police have filed charges against six people in connection with a fight and double stabbing that took place May 26th in Spencer.

Authorities say there were actually two altercations that took place shortly after midnight on that date. The first involved 23-year-old Jean Brown of Spencer and 22-year-old Christopher Page of Watertown, South Dakota.

Following that incident, authorities say Page and four other men…all from South Dakota…returned and a second fight broke out. During that altercation, officials say a knife was used and two people were stabbed, requiring hospital treatment.

Authorities have charged Brown with assault and going armed with intent; 20-year-old James Cadwell of Spencer was charged with theft in the fifth degree. Page, along with 27-year-old Shawn Dukes of Watertown, South Dakota and 24-year-old Josh Morton of Stranford, South Dakota were all charged with riot.

Authorities say another individual from Watertown, South Dakota that’s wanted in connection with the incident has yet to turn himself in.

Brown was booked into the Clay county jail. The others were booked and cited in court.

Spencer police say the altercations stemmed from an alleged theft of 170-dollars.
