Changes May Be In The Works For Spirit Lake Code Enforcement Program

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Some changes could be coming to Spirit Lake’s Code Enforcement program.

City Administrator Mark Stevens told the city council Tuesday he’s conducting a thorough study into the program. Stevens says he’s reviewing what’s being required of the city through the permitting process, fees, staffing and whether it’s sufficient and they’re properly qualified; revenues and whether or not the program is cash flowing; and if resources are available to enhance or modify the program in any way.

Stevens said he hopes to have a report to the council with recommendations by late May.

The issue was brought to the table by councilman Jerry Harbst, who said he wants to see the Code Enforcement Program continue, but with some modifications.
