(Spencer)– The chairman of the Dickinson county board of supervisors is also now serving on the board of trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College.
ILCC Trustees Tuesday approved the appointment of David Gottsche of rural Milford to fill a vacancy on the board created by the retirement last month of Bud Kyle of Milford.
Gottsche, who will represent the college’s fifth district on the board, will complete Kyle’s term, which expires at the end of September. At that point he will need to be officially elected to serve a full term.
In other business, trustees were updated on efforts to reach out to those affected by the changing economic climate; and they approved an application for a $367,000 grant through the Accelerated Career Education program that would be used to remodel classrooms at the Spencer campus to create a science lab, surgical suites and a medical assistance office technology station. It would also include improvements to a classroom at the college’s farm lab.
ILCC trustees also approved the purchase of a 22-thousand dollar scoreboard and a bus in the amount of $113,560.
