Car Vs. Snowmobile Mishap Injures Alta Man

(Superior)– Authorities have released information on a collision Saturday east of Spirit Lake involving a car and a snowmobile.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 57-year-old John Hase of Alta was driving a 2003 Arctic Cat snowmobile eastbound in the ditch along Highway Nine near Superior when he collided with a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Mitchell Meyer of Spencer who was southbound on 320th Avenue.

Hase was transported by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville with incapacitating injuries. No injuries were reported to Meyer.

2,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the snowmobile; a 1997 Buick Riviera driven by Meyer sustained an estimated one thousand dollars in damage.

Hase was cited for failure to yield.

The mishap took place shortly after 3:00 p.m.
