Car vs Bicycle Collision Claims Life Of Sheldon Man

(Primghar)– A mishap Friday in O’Brien county involving a car and a bicycle claimed the life of a Sheldon man.

The Iowa State Patrol says 21-year-old Sarah Johnson of Archer was driving a 2001 Pontiac westbound on county road B-14 when her vehicle struck the rear of a bicycle ridden by 56-year-old Randy VanZee of Sheldon.

VanZee was pronounced dead a short time later.

The incident took place shortly after 7:00 p.m. Friday.

It remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Sanborn Police Department and the Sanborn ambulance.
