Camp Autumn 3rd Annual Ice Fishing Tournament and Fundraiser February 12

February 03, 2022 Becky Thoreson

A fundraiser for Camp Autumn is on tap next week, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:

Seasons Center for Behavioral Health and Camp Autumn are hosting their 3rd Annual Ice Fishing Tournament & Fundraiser at Camp Autumn on February 12.

Shane Akin with the Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club says, the event helps fund scholarships for summer camp. “Camp Autumn is an organization that takes kids all the way up to age 21 that need a little bit extra help in life skills and different things like that, and they have a camp during the summer. So, this is their fundraiser to give out scholarships to bring people into their camp for the summer so they can enjoy these activities.”

He notes that the event is held near Sutherland. “It is located at 4266 Yew Avenue. It’s a 30 acre private lake full of bass, crappies, bluegills. This is the only the time that it’s open to the public. The tournament is for the kids, but you can be an adult. Anybody can go down and fish on this particular day and enjoy the activities. Just a freewill donation, so those proceeds will go to the scholarships for the summer. Registration is at 9 and the tournament is from 10-1. The Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Club members will be down there to help with the tournament, to measure the fish, document and release the fish, and they’ll have extra heaters and shacks for people, too.”
