Blaze Destroys Grain Bin Near Sioux Valley, Mn.

November 22, 2014

(Sioux Valley, Mn.)– Fire destroyed a grainery Sunday at the Vivian Fischer residence at 38394 730th Street in Sioux Valley, Minnesota.

Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says firefighters were called to the scene shortly after Noon and found a grainery in the middle of the farm yard completely engulfed.

Firefighters contained the blaze to the grainery and put out grass fires around the structure and monitored other buildings for possible ignition.

The Round Lake Fire Department assisted in transporting water to the scene. Firefighters also had to pump water from a nearby creek to battle the blaze.

Ehret believes the fire was the result of some embers that drifted from a nearby brush pile that had been lit about an hour before the blaze was reported.

Firefighters were on the scene about an hour and 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

A dollar estimate on the amount of damage wasn’t immediately available.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assisted on the scene.
