(Everly)– A two-vehicle collision Tuesday at the intersection of Highway 18 and Clay County Road M-27, or Barb’s Corner, sent two people to the hospital.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 66-year-old Barbara Dekok of Primghar was attempting to make a left-hand turn into Barb’s Restaurant when she turned into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by 43-year-old Robert Heida of Hartley. The two vehicles collided nearly head-on.
Heida and Dekok were taken to Spencer Hospital where they were treated for minor bruises.
Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup driven by Heida; a 2004 Buick Rendezvous driven by Dekok was totaled.
The mishap took place shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by Everly Fire and Rescue and Spencer Rescue.
