Authorities Successfully End Stand-Off With 17-Year-Old

November 22, 2014

(Mallard)– Some tense moments Tuesday in Mallard.

Palo Alto County Sheriff Dennis Goeders says authorities received a call from 709 Miller Street around 10:45 a.m. regarding a 17-year-old boy that reportedly had a gun and was threatening to harm himself.

The boy’s mother made the call to authorities, who surrounded the house.

Sheriff Goeders says he took over the call and spoke with the mother and the boy and was able to successfully negotiate an end to the incident.

The boy was taken into custody without incident and was transported to the adolescent care unit at Chrokee Mental Health for evaluation.

No injuries were reported.

Goeders says the Multi Agency Reponse Team was also called to Mallard as a precaution.
