(Spencer)– Authorities have released the name of a Spirit Lake man killed Wednesday when the vehicle he was driving was involved in a collision with a semi tractor-trailer at the North Y in Spencer.
The victim is identified as 61-year-old Donald Willis of Spirit Lake. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi tractor-trailer, 49-year-old Jerome Schueller of Primghar, was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign, along with faulty brakes.
Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to the semi tractor/trailer; the truck driven by Willis was totaled.
The collision took place around 9:00 a.m. It remains under investigation.
