Authorities Concerned Over Sibley Meth Lab Discovery

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– Authorities say they’re greatly disturbed over what they found when they busted a meth lab Monday in Sibley.

Osceola County Sheriff Doug Weber says it wasn’t your typical meth lab. He says this one was even more dangerous in that it’s believed to have been a “red phosphorous” lab. Weber says such labs are very dangerous and so far have been very rare in northwest Iowa.

Officers with the Osceola, O’Brien and Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Offices, Spencer Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol Entry Team discovered the suspected meth lab in a garage at 703 6th Avenue in Sibley Monday as they were executing a search warrant.

Marijuana and other drug paraphernalia was found as well.

No charges have been filed yet, but Weber says their investigation is ongoing.
