Aquila Sale Clears Another Hurdle

November 22, 2014

(Lincoln, Neb.)– The Nebraska Public Service Commission has cleared the way for the sale of Aquila’s major natural gas operations.

South Dakota-based Black Hills Corporation plans to buy Kansas City, Missouri-based Aquila’s natural gas operations in Iowa and several other states for 940 million dollars. The deal needs approval from regulators in those states.

Iowa regulators have also approved the sale and the company is awaiting word from regulators in Colorado and Kansas.

The sale is expected to occur after Aquila sells its Missouri electric operations to Great Plains Energy Incorporated. Great Plains and Aquila shareholders approved that deal last week.
