Aquila Files For Rate Hike

November 22, 2014

(Dubuque)– Aquila has requested an increase on its natural gas rates.

The request was filed Monday with the Iowa Utilities Board. Aquila says it needs the increase to recover operating costs and system improvements.

The company seeks a 10 percent increase for average residential customers, who would pay about $7.40 more per month. Aquila seeks nearly a three percent increase for commercial customers.

Interim increases will be 6.5 percent starting June 13th. The Utilities Board will likely consider the proposal later this year.
