Additional Stoplights To Go Up Along Highway 71

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Another set of stoplights is about to go up along the Highway 71 corridor in the lakes area.

Arnolds Park City Administrator Ron Walker says a bid was awarded last week to install stoplights at the intersection of Highway 71 and 202nd Street, or the “Taco House Road”.

Walker says the bid of 119,471-dollars from KWS of Cedar Falls came in under the engineer’s estimate of 157,226-dollars.

Walker says the traffic signals are one part of an overall project to improve safety at the intersection. The other component…the installation of turning lanes…was completed early this summer.

Walker says they’re hoping to get the signals up yet this fall. Otherwise he says the goal is to have them up and operating by Memorial Day 2008.

The cities of Arnolds Park, West Okoboji and Milford are paying for the project. All three cities along with Dickinson county share jurisdiction in that area, however the county opted not to get involved in the project.
