Additional Improvements Under Way at Okoboji Summer Theater

November 22, 2014

(Okoboji)– Improvements continue at Okoboji Summer Theatre.

Last year, the Theatre’s interior was completely rennovated. Now, new construction is taking place just west of the theatre.

Beth Leonard of Stevens College in Columbia, Missouri, which owns and operates the Okoboji Summer Theatre, was in the Iowa Great Lakes over Winter Games Weekend. She tells KUOO news the new addition includes dressing rooms, a rehearsal hall, basement, and other amenities.

Leonard says a 500-thousand dollar gift from Joan and Gary Kirk made the project possible.

In addition, Leonard says the front of the theatre will be rennovated in time for the season opener thanks to a donation from Ann Thorne Weaver, along with a rennovation to the theatre’s green room made possible by a donation from Francis Schloss.

Leonard also announced the schedule of productions for the upcoming season. It includes Nunsense Two; The Diviners; Maybe Baby It’s You; Leaving Iowa; 1940’s Radio Hour; Quality Street; Inter Laughing; Doubt; and Secret Garden.
