Additional Details Released Into E’Burg Biorefinery Project

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Additional details are being released by Poet Biorefinery into a massive upgrade it plans to make at its Emmetsburg plant.

Unlike traditional ethanol plants that use corn kernels, the Emmetsburg facility will use corn cobs and stalks for what officials say will be a cleaner fuel.

The plant will employ between 40 and 50 people.

Construction is scheduled to begin next year with plant production to get underway in 2011.

Total cost of the project is estimated at about 300 million dollars, with a total of 20 million contributed by the state. The federal government is adding another 80 million dollars.

As we reported last week, the new Iowa Power Fund Board awarded a 14.75 million dollar state contruction grant for the proposed project.
