(Spencer)– Hydrant flushing operations are underway in Spencer.
Officials with Spencer Municipal Utilities say now through the end of the month it’s being concentrated on the city’s west side, west of Grand Avenue and north of the Little Sioux River. Residents in that area are advised to put in their basement sewer plugs.
SMU officials say those living in the affected areas could also experience low water pressure and some discoloration while the flushing operations are going on.
Officials say the flushing operations are important to make sure stagnant water doesn’t build up and to ensure the hydrants are working properly.
