The State Park Passport is coming back for another year, and along with getting outdoors there are some great prizes! KUOO’s Mathew Grisham has the story…
The State Park Passport was launched in 2020 to celebrate the State Park Centennial. State Parks are a great way to maintain places for people to reconnect with nature and engross themselves in the outdoors, and Travel Iowa agrees. After a very successful year in 2020, with around 30,000 passport check-ins across the state, prizes are being expanded over Iowa’s 62 participating state parks. Jessica O’Riley, Communications Manager for Travel Iowa, says the passport system works off your phone’s location…
“So each of those parks are geofenced you’ll have to have your location on so it knows where you are. We know that reception is tricky at some state parks so there will be, generally by the entrance or by a shelter, a poster. There’s a pin code you can enter to do your check in that way as well.”
Signing up for the passport is easy and can be done right on your phone…
“You can sign up for the passport by going to traveliowa.com/passport you’ll either enter your email address or your phone number and then get directions either way you pick and then you can put them on your phone and get started!”
The Passport offers great incentive to go to many of Iowa’s State Parks, whether it’s with friends or just taking in nature.
